Post by Gianni » Thu Feb 14, 2008 6:11 am

Hi,
I have a problem with label of the project!!! Because when I get label old date, SourceOffSite get latest version.
But if I get a label of the single file of the project source off site get extract correctly.

I use this version:
• Client SourceOffSite 4.1
• SourceOffSite Server Manager 4.1.2
• Client Visual Source Safe 6.0d.

Best regard

Gianni.

Would it be possible for you to upgrade to the latest version of SOS, which is version 4.2?

The problem that you're experiencing may have been addressed in the latest release.

Could you enable verbose logging for your SOS Server

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=463

Then reproduce the problem? Send a copy of the log to support@sourcegear.com ATTN: Terence

Let me know what time in the log you logged in, and what you machine name or IP is in the log.

Perhaps there are some clues in your SOS Server log.

A sure way to reproduce the problem

Hi,

I have more information on this. I am using latest version of SourceOffSite - 4.2. To reproduce the problem you must label the parent of the project for which you trying get the source by label.

1. Create the following structure: grandparent->parent->child
2. Label grandparent with "Label1"
3. Check out some files in child, do modifications, check them back in.
4. Label grandparent with "Label2"
5. On the child context menu select "Show history", it will display all the labels applied, including Label 1 and Label 2.
6. Try to get the child project recursively by Label 1.
7. The latest source ( i.e. Label 2 ) is being pulled instead of the Label 1.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Max.

Hi,

Apparently the problem is with SourceSafe 6 rather than SourceOffSite itself. When I tried the same scenario on Source Safe 2005, it worked nicely. So, apologies for blaming the product :)

On a side-note - when generating a history of a grandparent ( like in the scenario I described before ), I can tick "Include file history" and get the changes for each file in the project between two dates. The I can generate, say, an HTML report on the list of changes, however, the exact details of a check-in are not included in the resulting report - all I get is that the file was checked-in, nothing about the comment associated with it.

Is it by design or an issue or am I missing something ?

Regards,

Max.

Well it's good to hear that the first issue is working! :)

I'll have to do a bit of research to find out what, if anything, you can do to get the checkin comments for the scenario you described.

I apologize for the delayed response.

At this time, I haven't found an option to include comments in the way you described.
