Force to uninstall Dragnet

Post by jkp*74 » Mon Jan 07, 2008 12:43 am

When upgrade from ver 3.1 to ver 4.0.6, i was forced to uninstall Dragnet in order to install the new vault server. Since i have no plan to move to Fortress, is there any way out? Through the years, we have collected quite a huge amount of information in Dragnet - in fact it has served as our knowledga bank.

Did you keep a backup of your 3.x database? The last release that worked with Dragnet was 3.5.3, so you can upgrade to that level if you wish.

Basically, you just need the Dragnet database to be on a separate instance of SQL or another SQL server. It won't integrate with Vault after 3.5.x, but if you don't mind using it separately it can still be used.

Did you know that there are special deals on Fortress for those who already have Vault and Dragnet? You might want to contact sales at sgstore at sourcegear.com to find out if there would be costs or not in your case and what those would be. Fortress does much more than Vault/Dragnet together.

If i run the maintenance update - say from 4.0.6 to 4.1, do i still need to uninstall Dragnet first?

I would expect the installer to detect that there is a Dragnet database. Dropping the database using the SQL Server Management Studio and uninstalling Dragnet will allow the upgrade.

Thanks for the respond. I have done that during the earlier upgrade from ver 3.1. No problem for me to perform the action you mention.
