VSS db on a Novell server

I am running SOS server 4.0 on a Windows 2003 server. The VSS database I want to access is on a Novell server. I can successfully connect to a VSS db on the Windows server, but not to the VSS db on the Novell server. My problem is that the service starts and since the account the service is using is not authenticated to the Novell server, it can't access the VSS db. I need to use a Windows account to run the service, and a Novell account to authenticate, so just using UNC pathing isn't working.

Is there a way to slip in an authentication step in the service? Or another resolution to this? I would think people have run into this before.
