I have used another SCS before that required check-in comments as well. Upon checking the file in with comments, the comments were prepended to the top of the file(s) along with a date/time stamp and the current user name. I thought that was a nice feature since it creates a permanent history for that file (barring a developer deleting the prior comments).
Does Vault support similar functionality? I just downloaded the latest version yesterday along with Fortress (v. 4.0.4 & v.1.0.4 respectively). I found how to require comments on check-in, but I can't find any option to embed the "check-in comment" into the source code file itself. Is it even possible?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Embed check-in comments?

There are a variety of data items you can have Vault add to a file upon commit. Basically you'll place text word monikers within the text file. Then, upon commit, the Vault client will place some of the actual data (comments, user, date/time, file path, etc) into the file.
