Detect new files ignores folder exclusions

Post by ww » Wed Sep 19, 2007 3:23 pm

When I do "Detect New Files to Add" on a folder, then check that folder at the root of the tree in the "detect new files" dialog, Vault selects files that meet the file include/exclude criteria in all subfolders, including those that should be excluded.

For example, "bin" is on the list of excluded folders. When I check the "MyProj" folder, files in the "MyProj\bin" folder get added to the list of files to add.

Am I missing something, or shouldn't the bin folder be excluded?

If you were to select the folder My Project and actually perform the Add, then the bin folder should be ignored at that point. I think that may be the only case of exclusion...when adding a folder that has embedded in it one of the items to be excluded.

Whoops--forgot about this topic. For me, the exclusions would be a lot more useful if they worked when doing "detect files to add". I have a project tree with 15 or 20 subprojects, and each of the project directories has source files, intermediate files, binaries, etc. If I've been working with a lot of different subprojects for a change, I like to do a "detect" on the whole tree to make sure I didn't forget to add something new. But since the exclusions don't work, I have to then go through and remove all the binaries and other files that get listed.
