I am trying to get up and running on Vault 4.0.4.15848 (server is same version) and after a couple of false starts, I'm at a stand-still.
I am trying to add my solution to vault, but I keep getting an error message "Can't call this on an offline project."
I had added the solution before, then deleted it from vault, and finally obliterated it. I still can't add it back.

Which of the interfaces to Visual Studio are you using? (VS 2005 or 2003)
Can you check your Vault server log for corresponding errors? That would be located in C:\Windows\temp\sgvault.
Could you start up IDE logging for me, recreate it, and then zip up the IDE log and either post it or send it to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this post? Details on logging for the VS 2005 IDE can be found here: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?p=5375

Thank you. Removing the entries from the .xml file you mentioned worked like a charm.
For the record, I'm using the VS 2005 client in VS 2005. I'm sure I'm doing some unusual things as I move stuff around, delete and re-add trying to find out how Vault organizes things and such. One of the things I'm doing is removing the superflous <Solution>.root directory that VSS wanted me to have.
Thanks again,
