Super slow deletes/renames

Post by awdavis » Mon Aug 27, 2007 5:54 pm

Since Vault 4, it seems that every time I delete or rename a file, I am forced to get an entire tree refresh (translate that as 3 minutes of my local workstation being completely busy.) And it seems to have to do this refresh twice (working, then more working.) Is there an option I'm missing?

And while we're on the topic, what is it doing during the "Retrieving repository structure information from the server..." stage? It's not retrieving anything, and the server isn't busy. My workstation is totally swamped for about 3 minutes every time it does that. I assume it's calculating pi to a trillion places or something, or else the world's most inefficient bubble-sort has been called.

What version of Vault are you running? There was a fix for some very slow behavior on moves/renames/deletes included in 4.0.4.

If you're already up-to-date, I'd need to see a client log that includes a startup. Instructions for enabling client logging is here.
