Rebuilding Share Links with the Debug import tool

Post by cvanderheide » Fri Aug 10, 2007 8:42 am

I've been trying to import some projects individually using the special debug version of the import tool, but it's not reconnecting any of the share links between separate projects. How exactly is this supposed to work? I've imported a project, and then ran the import for the same project but checking the "Establish shares only" option. I've also tried selecting the entire vss tree with the "shares only" option but that also did not establish links between the existing imported projects.

How is this supposed to be done? Have I missed something here? We do have a number of shares that go across projects, so this is important to get working.

Also, is it possible or advisable to run more than one import at a time to vault? For some of our larger projects it can take the entire day just to pre-scan the thing. Very painful.

We haven't tested trying to run multiple imports at once. I'm not convinced it's a good idea.

I'd like to make sure you're using the most recent version of that tool. Send me an email at support at sourcegear.com with a link to this forum thread and I'll send you the latest tool.

Yeah, neither am I. I didn't know if it had ever been tried.
