Source Code Control node in VS.NET

Post by neal007 » Sun Aug 05, 2007 1:06 pm

When I go to Tools...Options in VS.NET 2005, I have a + "" (i.e. NO CAPTION) for the Source Code Control node now. Is this a result of my installing 4.0.3?

I was shocked to see that 4.0.3 was pulled and I didn't receive an e-mail notifying of a critical issue. In fact, why don't I ever get an e-mail from SG of an upgrade being available? Are they scared of their own upgrades? No confidence?

I have to admit, if the Vault program manager worked for my company, he would not be employed today! Ever since the release of v4, it has been absolute buffoonery time after time after time. Putting Eric's name in bad light in my opinion!

Yes, this is a manifestation of the client upgrade bug that caused us to pull the 4.0.3 installers from the web site. See http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=8381 for a discussion of the bug. The bottom line is that uninstalling the client and reinstalling it will correct your problem.

As for email notifications, SourceGear has never sent out mass emails for maintenance releases, and only very rarely for major releases. The method that we've set up to keep our customers up to date is to provide a forum for release announcements on this support site. This forum can be monitored via an RSS feed. See http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=1227 for the RSS URL.
