4.0.2 problems

Post by neal007 » Sat Jul 07, 2007 1:28 pm

Well, things going south again! I cannot get my "legacy" client to check in, it's locking up VS 2005. Worked fine with 4.0.1 until today's "upgrade" to 4.0.2.

Installs did not go well! Initially had a problem where the server install on my home configuration showed an "OK" message to continue and install the Client if optioned, but the progress bar was only at 20% and not moving. I clicked OK and the install failed and rolled back. I could not reinstall because of a user already connected to SQL Server, i.e. you couldn't get your exclusive connection due to the prior failed attempt, eventually had to reboot the server, uninstall Vault Server and reinstall it again.

Now I'm having problems on my business server where VS 2005 is locking up and I'm using the Legacy client.

I actually uninstalled and reinstalled the client to troubleshoot as the client install didn't appear like it was running properly either.

Still working, adding up more hours due to lack of quality control and yet another Friday release, we are not learning our lessons here.

I ended up removing all the bindings manually, that didn't work, then changed the name of my local folders to end with OLD and pulled a fresh set of files from Vault, unbind from SCC and changed to the VSIP provider and see if this works. I got an error when trying to use the Legacy client, hope this sheds some light on the issue. As you know, I'm using Vista x64.
