Turn on automatic cloaking for new users running vault

Post by boy141 » Mon May 14, 2007 9:50 am

Hi,

I've searched for this in the forums but haven't found the answer. Our vault repository is getting huge with all the branches we have in there (1.5 gigs each branch). The optimization tips from the other posts have been very helpful (cloaking, tree size, rebuild indices).

Vault works fine when I cloak the branches (gusto). But when a new user goes into vault, it takes 30 mins for the client and server to sync and it pegs up the client's box. Is there a way to do a default setting for "cloak all folders" so that when a new user starts up vault for the first time, everything runs fast because it is all cloaked.

Thanks in advance,
Terry T.

There's no way to pre-cloak everything. The first connection to Vault is building all the client-side cache files, which include the repository tree, checkout info, etc. This can take some time if you have a huge tree, but subsequent logins should be faster.

Are you on the latest version of Vault? We continue to work on optimizing Vault, and upgrading may get you better performance.
