I know vault does not support integration with Access 2003, but I am about to implement this anyway. I have used VSS 6.0d and SourceOffSite previously with Access 2003 Applications, and have worked fine. My questions is this, I have one Access 2003 database which is 30 meg, this is the only MS Access DB that I have included currently under Source Control (Vault), I have then checked the MS SQL DB backend for the size after Vault control, and the size with just this one DB is 130 Meg! I will be including as many as 30 MS Access 2003 databases under Vault control. Does this mean the MS SQL backend size will start to ballooning and the perfermance of the SQL backend will crawl?
I am using Version 3.5.1(4786) and MS SQL 2000 SP6.
Thanks.
Vault and Access 2003 integration

Did you check the sql db size by the file size or from the shrink database screen?
Because we have a few access databases in there, with the largest weighing in at 50mb compacted and there are 3 others at 10-15mb each. And while sgvault is occupying 244mb of disk space, 118mb of that is free space according to Shrink Database.
Secondly, SQL Server won't get stressed about a few hundred meg database size. We have a 4gb db unrelated to access or sourcegear and its perfectly fine. I can't remember the maximum size of an SQL Server database but if I did remember it, I'd wear out my numeric keypad typing it out
Thirdly, in a large Access database at least, Sourcegear is slightly slower then Sourcesafe but its far more stable than sourcesafe so worth it in my opinion.

Besides shrink database, you may wish to also check out a few of our KB articles on database maintenance and Vault performance.
