Project missing in SOS 4.0

Post by cmasshardt » Wed Sep 27, 2006 3:58 pm

I'm a SOS 4.0 client user. I have determined that what I see in the SOS client does not reflect what is actually on the VSS server. I have tried the refresh project tree, but the missing projects (and directories) do not appear.

Thank you in advance for any help...

I will probably try updating to 4.2 to see if that solves the problem.

Conrad:

Make sure both client and server are upgraded to SOS 4.2.

Roger, WILCO.

Has anyone else had this problem? It looks like a lot of projects are listed as "no such file or project" when I click on them (but they are there to click on) ... Maybe this is a common problem with VSS? VSS repair?

Thanks,
Conrad

When you refresh the project tree, refresh one level above where you want the refresh to happen. That, refresh from a parent folder, not a sibling.

Try refreshing from the root project ( $/ ) if you can't see certain folders.

You might be getting file or project not found if the project has been deleted or moved and the project tree was not refreshed.

If, after a refresh you are still getting project or file not found errors, this could indicate minor database corruption in VSS. In this case, you would run Analyze on the VSS database. Use the -f and -c parameters.

Are other SOS users having the same problems? This could tell us if it's strictly a client-side issue or a database issue.
