Connection problem when multiple users access the SOS Server

Post by trseshan » Wed Aug 16, 2006 4:23 am

Hi,

We have multiple users accessing the SourceOffSite Server 4.1.2 with cryptography.

However, every now and then the users are not able to access the server and when the server logs were checked noticed the below statement.

"Exception: Index was outside the bounds of the array."

Looks like the SOS server is crashing.

Following is the log from the latest ERROR on the server:

*************************************************************

8/15/2006 10:27:59 PM - Connection accepted from XX.XXX.XXX.XXX:1874 on local address XXX.XXX.X.XX:8080, session id is 21.

8/15/2006 10:29:14 PM - 24: Exception: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

We have teams accessing the VSS using SOS client and the work gets disturbed when this connection problem happens.

The version number of the VSS automation component (ssapi.dll) on the SOS Server machine is 6.0.8169

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Beth

Are you using multiple NICs? It could be that the SOS server is not bound to the right IP address. (See this post: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=553&)

It also could very well be the version of the automation component you are using. We have an article that provides all the details: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=1348.

Multisuer and "Exception: Index was outside the bounds

Post by dri » Fri Aug 18, 2006 6:51 am

Hi there,

I faced exactly the same issue here at Unaxis.

VSS 6.0d is installed on the SOS machine and I've already tried to set the registry to "Both". The machine has only one NIC. But the errors are still here.

Any other ideas ?

Thank you for your response.

Best Regards
Daniel

Are you using the cryptography option as well? Are you attempting to access from outside a firewall? What happens if you try with another machine? You can feel free to send your error log.

Hi Beth,

Thank you for your reply: Yes, we use Cryptography and no, there is no Firewall between the SOS Server and the clients. We face the same issues among different clients.

DRI,
I now think your issue and Treshan's issue will be a little different. Are you able to connect and work without SSL?

Another good thing to check that your database path and permissions are correct. Just go into your SourceOffSite Server Manager, Databases tab, and verify that the path to your srcsafe.ini is correct and that the alias listed has full permissions for the SOS service? I don't think this will be the issue in your case, but it's a common thing people miss.

Hi Beth,

--> Yes we basically we are able to run the SOS without SSL. Two colleagues are working without SSL now, they will report their expierence by end of this week. I will keep you updated.

I have double checked this possibility: All paths and also the permissions (for SOS Server Account, and the clients) are OK.

Could you increase the logging for me? Here's where to find info on how to do that: Debug and Method Logging Then just recreate the scenario again and send me a log.

Here's a small article on how SOS works with cryptography (meant to say that instead of ssl) and if any piece of that has an error, you will have problems: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=457

If you load an SOS client right onto the server itself, are you able to use it with cryptography?
