Backup MS SQL Express?

Post by rakkar3 » Tue Aug 15, 2006 9:56 am

I saw in the upgrade instructions you should backup MS SQL Express before doing the upgrade to 3.5. I know this isn't the right place for it but I can't find instructions anywhere on how to do that. I don't have any icons in my start menu for this and couldn't find anything on the forums.

Can anyone point me to where I can find instructions on how to backup MS SQL Express?

Thanks.

You can use the Vault Admin Tool to perform a backup.

Or take a look at T-SQL's BACKUP DATABASE command - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms186865.aspx

If you are looking for a GUI tool for managing SQL Server Express, I would recommend the Studio Manager Express tool. You can download it form the SQL Server Express page at Microsoft.

It can do backups, restores and a variety of other tasks.
