Sql 2005 compatibility level with Vault database

Post by gsmalter » Sun May 21, 2006 12:30 pm

I've been running the Vault database on SQL 2005 for some time and it works fine. I recently found out, though, that databases migrated to 2005 have their Compatibility Level (in SSMS, sgvault -> Properties -> Options -> Compatibility Level) set to SQL 2000 (80) by default. All migration guides I have read, though, suggest setting it to SQL 2005 (90) (without much justification).

Will Vault work if I change the Compatibility Level to SQL 2005 (90)? What are the consequences and benefits of this?

Thanks.

I don't know that we've actually tested this. How did you migrate your database? Did you use the Wizard, backup and restore, etc?

We just took a backup of the SQL 2000 database and restored it in SQL 2005. As I said, it works fine, but I wasn't sure about this one thing.
