Feature Request: Right Click DiffMerge

Post by RemingtonSteele » Mon Apr 17, 2006 10:22 am

Hello,

 It would be really nice to be able to right click on the DiffMerge's Result Window when comparing multiple files or directories and do the following:

For Left Only Files:

Add to Source Control...
Delete...

For Right Only Files:

Get Latest Version...
Delete...

For Different Files:

Show Differences... (I know double click does this)
Get Latest Version...
Check Out...
Delete...

I'm really suprised that Source Safe has these features and Vault does not. Adding these features would be great!

Regards.

I'll add these as a feature request to be considered for a future release of the Diff/Merge tool. Thanks for your input.

Could you also add my vote for this feature please. It is one of the few (very, very few!) things I miss from SourceSafe.

Note one way to get similiar information is to use the Status Search pane in the main Vault GUI client. It won't show files on disk that are not in Vault, but it will show the other differences between the working folder and the Vault tree (old, missing, edited, etc).

Thanks for the information.

The main reason it is useful to see files in a working directory that are not in Vault is to see files that haven't been added to source control when they should have been. Its amazing how many new files get missed sometimes! Being able to find these files and then right click and add to source control is a very useful feature.

Vault 3.5 will suppport "ghosted" files and folders. The GUI Client will show non-version controlled files in the file list and in the folder tree. You will be able to right-click on a "ghosted" item and add it to source control.

Vault 3.5 will be released sometime in June.
