athlon64 Question...

Post by jkimble » Tue Mar 14, 2006 7:20 pm

Ok,

I'm having issues with the vault client and my Athlon64 (which is running Windows XP Pro -- 32bit).

The server is 3.0.0.2752. (I would run this version of the client if I could get it... I have tried Version 3.0.7 with less verbose results)

And I'm using the 3.1.7.3719 client (which seems to be the most well behaved).

I don't have control of the software (I would need to chat with my boss to do any kind of upgrades).

We are a total disconnected office. I work from home and connec tto the vault over the internet. No One else in the company is having the problems I'm having.

When I go to either add or check in a file I get failures. I captured the error message from this evening...

The first file I tried reported the following (which is the c# codebehind from an ASP.Net 2.0 file) -
[3/14/2006 8:06:11 PM] Found and corrected problems with the a local baseline file. Retrying the transaction.
[3/14/2006 8:06:08 PM] An error occurred while trying to end a transaction.
[3/14/2006 8:06:08 PM] An exception was encountered during the transaction. Exception: Exception of type System.Exception was thrown. at VaultClientOperationsLib.ClientInstance.Commit(ChangeSetItemColl givenItems, Boolean keepCheckedOut, Boolean removeLocalCopy, Boolean bIsImport, DateTime dateImport, Int32 nUserIDImport, Int64& nRevID)
[3/14/2006 8:06:08 PM] Transaction failed

The next file I tried is the aspx for the same file -
[3/14/2006 8:06:36 PM] An error occurred while trying to end a transaction.
[3/14/2006 8:06:36 PM] An exception was encountered during the transaction. Exception: Exception of type System.Exception was thrown. at VaultClientOperationsLib.ClientInstance.Commit(ChangeSetItemColl givenItems, Boolean keepCheckedOut, Boolean removeLocalCopy, Boolean bIsImport, DateTime dateImport, Int32 nUserIDImport, Int64& nRevID)
[3/14/2006 8:06:36 PM] Transaction failed
[3/14/2006 8:06:36 PM] Item $/DMME/WebSites/DMME/Orders/OrderPage.aspx caused the transaction to fail: Failure
[3/14/2006 8:06:36 PM] Transaction failed

Is it a bug with my Athlon64x2 3800+ ?? I did have an issue with CodeSmith but we were able to work it out... The CodeSmith issues were related to Framework 2.0.

It also seems like I can only check in/out, or get up to 4 files (anything more causes an error that I can't reproduce right at the moment).

BTW, this is a fully patched new machine (the old one doesn't have these issues and neither does my laptop).

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks,

The first thing to check is if the new machine has anti-virus, anti-hacker, firewall software, etc. that could be blocking the uploads.

It also would help to see what is happening from the server side. Can you get a copy of the sgvault.log file from the Vault Server %windir%\temp\sgvault directory? Email to linda at SourceGear.com.

All of that software is the same (Same Firewall -- MS Firewall turned off because I have a router, same antivirus, and I haven't gotten around to installing MS AntiSpyware yet)

I will see if I can get the server log file for you.

athlon64 Question...

Actually I figured it out (accidentally). I convinced my team to upgrade to the latest version, and everything is working fine now.

I am using VS2005, which from what I've read 3.0.x doesn't play nice with VS2005. Problem solved.
