Vault Client - reverts from CVS to VSS style

Post by David Voss » Thu Feb 23, 2006 3:25 pm

Version 3.1.5 (and 3.1.2)

We've been using the Vault software here at work since Oct '05 and it's great. The one complaint though is there have been numerous times where it doesn't seem to "remember" the Development Style options. This has happened to both a coworker and myself (rather frequently).

One of the first things I do when setting up a project in the Vault is set it to CVS Style.

Tools > Vault Options > Concurrent Development Style:
- Check Out/Edit/Check In (VSS Style)
- Edit/Merge/Commit (CVS Style)

There have been times where I'll have worked on a project and so I know there are changes but when loading the Vault they don't show up. Checking the Options it will show that it reverted to VSS. I'll check CVS Style, hit OK, and the pending changes will show up in the list. I can exit the Vault Client, start it back up, choose the repository and the options may revert to VSS. That's the thing sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Are you logging in as the same user? User settings are saved on the server and are stored for each user account.

Also, changing a setting in one area of the Options will over-ride settings for Concurrent Development Style. For instance, if you checked CVS mode, but then later in Check In options you selected "Require Checkout before Checkin," it would change your CVS mode.

If you can detect any reproducible pattern, let us know.
