Multiple Instalations of Vault

Post by bfcamara » Fri Dec 30, 2005 11:20 am

Hi,

is it possible to have multiple installations of Vault? What are the steps to install a new instance of vault in the same machine?

We need this because we are asking to our hosting provider to have an instance of vault only for ourselves. The hosting provider is questioning about the multiple instances of vault in the same server.

Thanks.

This isn't a configuration we've tested or that we support.

Is there a reason you need your own instance? Your hosting provider could create a repository or repositories in Vault that only you can access. That's the way one Vault hosting provider support multiple customers.

The problem with that approach is the fact that we can't use the Admin Tool, because there is no concept of Administrator of Repository (and just only on repository). If we need to add a new user, new licences, whatever, we have to ask to our hosting provider.

We would like to have the control of adding new users and so on.

There is no workaround to resolve this?

Thanks

We don't have workaround to suggest, except to install Vault to another machine with SQL Server and move your database. But this may not be an option.

I will log a feature request to create a "Repository Admin" account that has Admin rights just for a particular repository.
