Unusual renaming issue: VS2005

Post by jazzman007 » Sun Dec 18, 2005 6:35 pm

Hi All,

I'm using Vault 3.1.5 with VS2005 and am seeing a strange issue when renaming a file from within the VS2005 IDE.

If the file is checked out and you rename it from within the VS IDE, the file is renamed, but its source control status makes it a new file rather than a change. In the Vault client, the old file name is checked out and its status is missing, and to fix it I have to undo the checkout of the old file and then delete it.

Oddly, when the file is not checked out, everything works fine; it doesn't even check the file out. This isn't huge, just a little annoying if you don't remember to check your file in before renaming it.

Thanks,
John

Vault won't let you delete or rename a file that's checked out, so that's probably why there's a difference in behavior. Also, see this thread:
