HUGE cache in profile

Post by Michael_Dorfman » Tue Nov 15, 2005 8:45 am

Right now, my Vault profile is about 1.5gig.

This is particularly interesting because the contents of my working folders sum to about 1.2gig.

We're on version 3.1.5.

Is something odd going on here?

Not necessarily. The folders in your local settings directory usually include cache files and other data that's not in your working folder. There may also be additional folders if you connected to a different Vault server, connected as a different user, etc.

Interesting.

In this case, there's no other user and no other server, and I deleted the cache folder and it was re-created fresh at the same size.

So, if I am understanding correctly, it's just that the amount of information you are storing about my files is larger than the size of the files themselves, is that right? And that this is not an unusual state of affairs?

That's correct. Vault not only stores baselines for each file, but also state files. There's one state file per folder.
