SourceSafe 2005 & Source Offsite

Post by PeteS » Mon Nov 07, 2005 9:32 am

Has SourceGear made an official announcement on VS 2005 and SoS?

Any known issues?
Completely compatable?

Thanks

We're still testing integration, and hope to have more details in a few weeks.

Source Off Site is an awesome product.

I'd like to know what your plans are for support under VSS 2005.

We need to make some strategic decisions.

An update on your testing progress would be appreciated.

We should have some news in mid-December.

Ok, it's mid-December...

I'm about to hire new programmers. I really need to do some strategic planning.

Even if SoS isn't ready for VSS 2005 yet, I need to know what your plans are.

If you're not comfortable stating your plans publicly, please PM me or email me.

We will provide support for SOS 4.1.2 integration with Visual Studio 2005.

During our testing, we found some minor issues, which can be resolved with a workaround, but found no significant problems using VS 2005 with the current version of SOS.

We do not plan to support VS 2005 integration with versions of SOS prior to 4.1.2.

Ok, that's great news.

Do you plan to publish these work arounds? Is there another update forthcoming?

I'm specifically interesting in using the "shelving" feature of VSS 2005. Are you able to make a comment on whether that has any issues with SoS?

We do plan to publish them. We are in the process of creating a KB article that will be posted to the SOS support forum within a couple of days. We are also planning an updated release of SOS that will resolve some of these issues. The date for this release has not yet been established.

The "shelving" feature is included in Microsoft's Team System Source Control product and not within Visual SourceSafe 2005.

Thanks,

Has the KB article been published yet? If so, could you provide a link to it. I've searched the Support forum and have not been able to locate a recent additon.

Thanks,
Judy

We have posted these issues to the Support Forum, they are located under the SourceOffSite Knowledge Base section. I have also included the direct link to these articles:

The second link, the one that describes a potential registry fix, seems to have some character encoding problems.

As this is for a registry change I'd prefer not to guess at the intended characters.

Please revise that post so that the encoding is correct.

Thanks for pointing that out. A recent upgrade put UTF-8 encoding header on all pages that didn't otherwise have one declared in Apache by their extension. That feature's been disabled, but pages that were affected need to be manually corrected. I've made the changes to the link you referred to.

Sorry about that, I'm not exactly sure what happened to it. I have modified this article to be correct.
