Server or service restart?

Post by Mark_CM » Mon Oct 03, 2005 8:38 am

Hi

We're considering using SourceOffSite, and I'm evaluating the implications.

Your documentation often mentions that "the SOS Server" must be restarted if changes are made to the configuration, but it doesn't seem clear if you mean the actual machine that the server software is installed on, or just the server service.

Restarting a server has to be carefully planned, and we'd like to know how often this would need to occur after (1) initial SOS server software installation and (2) after SOS server configuration changes are made.

Thanks in advance. :)

Just the service would have to be restated - I can't think of any situation where a restart of the whole machine would be required.

The installer recommends a reboot, IIRC, but it's not actually necessary.
