Disable Non-Secure Access

Post by Adrian » Sun Oct 02, 2005 3:04 am

Im sure im missing the obvious big button but I cant find any decent way to disable standard login to vault. I want to ensure all connections are via SSL? Im running Vault Server on a SBS 2003 machine.

Many Thanks

This is configuration is handled by IIS.

You'll need an SSL certificate installed for the IIS server. After that, you should be able to configure the VaultService virtual directory to only allow SSL connections. IIS' documentation will have more detailed information on the configuration.

I have configured the virtual directory "VaultService" service to require an SSL connection. Do you advise that I configure "VaultShadowFolder" that way too?

Actually, I'd suggest to only allow the IP address of the Vault service to only have access to the VaultShadowFolder virtual directory. Nothing else is required to have access to this Server.

Many thanks for the replies - i have now ensured security by setting up specific ip access which seems the most secure way of doing things :)
