VSS Import with SourceSafe 6.0c and 3.1.x clients

Post by mballou » Fri Sep 30, 2005 11:25 am

I know with the version 2.x clients, we had to use Source Safe 6.0c for a reliable import.

Is that still the case with the 3.1.x clients?

Thanks,

Mike,

Yes, you should still be using the English language version of SourceSafe 6.0c, plus the following hotfix from Microsoft:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... us;Q323917

The hotfix is also available at

http://download.sourcegear.com/files/vss_60c_hotfix.zip

Do not use SourceSafe 6.0d or non-English language versions of SourceSafe.

Some users have had problems with non-English versions of SourceSafe, so use the English language version.

Hm,
and does anybody have an idea how I can get a VSS version 6.0c in english ?

I have only the german versions of vss and I need to import my vss database into vault, but with my german version the import will not work.

Any ideas ?

best regards

We have a download of VSS 6.0c, Microsoft Hotfix version at this link:

http://download.sourcegear.com/files/vss_60c_hotfix.zip

It's the English language version.

This contains a version of the VSS automation component that SourceGear has had good experience with. Replace the contents of your VSS\Win32 directory with the contents of this archive.
