Changing the profile that Visual Studio IDE uses to connect

Post by webgeek » Tue Sep 20, 2005 8:42 am

We are attempting to upgrade from Vault 2.06 to 3.12 and running into problems. Specifically the bug referenced here:

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=2474

This is a real show stopper for us as we have mutliple on and off site developers and MANY solutions/projects that would need to be corrected on each machine.

As we are using Visual Studio 2003, it's also not saving the settings when we change them in the IDE so we would need to edit the files directly. The problem comes in that we don't know what profile number to use on a given machine as it's developer specific.

Does SourceGear have a utility for this that we could run on the workstations? Is there a more realistic work around? Thanks in advance for any help!

Instead of manually changing each MSSCCPRJ file for every project, an alternative would be to use the "open from source control" option specifying a new working folder (or deleting all of the information from within your current working folder after all checkins have been complete).
The problem comes in that we don't know what profile number to use on a given machine as it's developer specific.
Are mulitiple developers using the same machine? Profiles are user specific so this shouldn't be a problem.

Please let me know if you run into any compilcations.
