Deploying/moving Vault front end without using MSI installer

Post by BrianLy » Mon Sep 19, 2005 11:35 am

Hi

I have an existing Vault setup that is on server A, along with the SQL server database. I have control over this environment. I want to move my Vault to Server B, however this is in a strict corporate environment and the database will be deployed to a SQL server cluster.

I'm guessing I should proceed by:

* Restoring my vault database to the new sql cluster.
* Copying my vault application directory to the new IIS server without using the MSI installer
* Apply certain permissions for ASP.NET.

Can you provide links and/or help on steps 2 and 3?
Has this setup been performed by other users?
What is the situation regards updating this setup with new Vault versions?

Thanks,

Brian

We can provide some instructions for steps 2 and 3.

Results have been mixed. Some users have had success; others have not. It really depends on the restrictions a user might face in modifying the database, configuring IIS, giving proper rights to the ASPNET process, etc.

Again, depending on the restrictions, upgrading would probably require many of the same steps as the original installation.

Email me at Linda at SourceGear.com for details of a manual installation.
