Importing Sourcesafe Issue - Protocol Not Supported

I am trying to switch from Sourcesafe to Vault. I am using the latest import utility.

My sourcegear is version 2.0.3. I am waiting on the company signing off the gold support purchase so that I can upgrade the clients however this may take some time and I need to get moving.

I am trying the import, advising the utility where the sourcesafe is, then stating what server the sourcegear is on, when I click next I get :
The Vault Server Uses A Protocol That Is Not Supported By This Client.

Any ideas on a work around ?

Is your Vault Server version 2.0.3?

The Vault Import Tool is just another Vault Client. If you're using the latest Import Tool, that would be 3.x. Vault 3.x clients can't connect to Vault 2.x servers.

Vault 2.0.6 is still available from our downloads page:

I'd suggest upgrading your Vault installation to 2.0.6 and then using the 2.0.6 Import Tool for your VSS import.

Or, if you're fairly certain you'll be upgrading to Vault 3.x, we can provide you with a temporary 3.x serial number so that you can upgrade to 3.x now and use the latest Import Tool. Contact me offline at Linda at SourceGear.com if this is an option.
