Hi,

I'm evaluating Vault. I've installed the client and tried it out. It seems really nice. I have questions I'm hoping someone on these forum could help me with.

1 - Does Vault have some type of 'Publish' and 'Shadow' feature like VSS does? Is it possible to publish a project directly from the Vault repository? Is it able to shadow files to another directory when someone makes an update?

2 - Can Vault restrict permissions on directories and projects so that developers can only access specific folders?

3 - Will Vault install normally in a set up where the SQL server and web server are on separate machines?

Vault supports Shadow Folders -- on the same machine or same LAN as the Vault Server.

2 - Can Vault restrict permissions on directories and projects so that developers can only access specific folders?

Yes, Vault has folder-level security. You can also set up Groups in Vault, restrict repository access, etc.

3 - Will Vault install normally in a set up where the SQL server and web server are on separate machines?

Yes. The Vault server does not have to be on the same machine as the SQL Server hosting the Vault database.
