Dialogs half off screen

Post by billweh » Thu Jun 30, 2005 9:38 am

Each time I perform some option (Vault 3.0.6), the dialog appears and the next time I perform an option (say another checkout/checkin), the dialog appears, only this time it's a little lower. This continues on and on so that each time it's further and further down the screen, until finally it's just a title bar at the bottom of my screen and I have to move the dialog up to see anything.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 and Vault 3.0.6. I have VS.Net 2003 installed along with VS 6.x. I do not have the beta of .Net 2.0 or VS.Net 2005 installed.

Is there some setting I can make that will stop this, or is it something that can be changed in the next release of Vault that will center all of these dialogs either in the screen or within the window of Vault?

Thanks!

Are you seeing this in the Vault GUI Client or in VS.NET?

Which dialog(s) are traveling? When you close and open the client (GUI or IDE) does the dialog start at the top again?

Maybe a screenshot would help to visualize this.

The dialog I'm noticing it in is the Check-In dialog. Here are three screen shots. Screenshot1.jpg is the first opening, Screenshot2.jpg is after the 3rd opening and Screenshot3.jpg is after the fourth.

As you can see, each time the dialog is opened, it does drop a little lower. If I close the app (this is the GUI standalone client) and do a check-in again, it opens in the same place (dropped lower) and in the case of screenshot3.jpg, part of the dialog is off screen.

Thanks, the screenshots were very helpful. We were able to reproduce this when we put the Windows Start bar at the top of the screen. I'll log it as a bug.

For now the workaround would be to move the Start bar to the bottom of the screen.
