Problem starting SOS-Server 3.5.3 Java Service killed

Post by gvdkamp » Thu Jun 30, 2005 8:41 am

Hello,

Our server ran for a long time without problems, but after an Shutdown because of a power failure which lastet quite long and I didn't want to run on battery power that long. I get the following error in the Application-Event-Log:

Ereignistyp: Fehler
Ereignisquelle: Java Service
Ereigniskategorie: Keine
Ereigniskennung: 0
Datum: 30.06.2005
Zeit: 16:26:11
Benutzer: Nicht zutreffend
Computer: DIZZY
Beschreibung:
Service killed

I suspect there is an automatic-update which is active now after the restart of the server. Is this a known problem?

In the SourceOffSite Server log I get the following output:

SourceOffSite Classic Server 3.5.3
With Cryptography

Operating System: Windows NT 5.0

Java VM: Microsoft Corp. Version 1.1.4

Pin Support enabled.

Debugging output enabled.

VSS DLL synchronization enabled.

Number of licenses configured: 14

Server is a Windows 2000 Server running SP4.

Regards,

Ger van der Kamp

Since you have a log file I'm assuming the SOS Server service starts, then stops with an error?

As you may know, Microsoft no longer supports the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine. SOS 3.x was written in Java, so it needs the JVM.

We've had other reports from users who updated their OS's with new service packs and encountered problems with the msjava.dll. We're not sure whether the update deletes it or disables it somehow.

You could try downloading and reinstalling the msjava.dll from this link:

If this doesn't work, your options are to upgrade to SOS 4.1 or find a different machine where the JVM still works.
