Import_VSS_7GB
We tried to import a big VSS Data base (7 GB) on a Power Edge SC1420 Server, with 2,8 GHz, 1GB RAM, but we had to interruped it, because of a long duration (the counter indicates ca. 300 days). The import works well, and some projects were been imported, but can somebody of you give me a tip, if is possible to import 7GB VSS in a shorter time? Thanks anticipated! Regards Lupus
You should check out your import log file, to see if you were encountering errors that was causing the import to take an excessive amount of time.
If there are no exceptions in the import log file, you will need to import less data. You can do this by exporting the projects from VSS into a new database and import the smaller database. The time estimation in the import can sometimes be wildly inaccurate, so 300 days is highly unlikely, but a couple of days is probable.
I don't think that there is any trick that will make importing 7 gigs into a short operation. I assume that you've already read http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=8 which has tips for making sure that everything gets imported.
