Multiple exclusive databases and server instances

Post by jhendric » Mon May 16, 2005 2:38 pm

We will be installing sourceoffsite on a W2003 server. The vaults are on that machine.
Can we somehow cause some vaults to be visible to one group and other vaults be visible to another group?
Can we run more than one sourceoffsite server instance on the server? If so, how does licensing work?

Thanks,

Jim

You can run only one instance of SOS 4.x on a server, as it runs as a service and there's no way to run multiple services.

You could install the SOS Server on other machines on the LAN, and point them to the VSS databases on a single machine.

SOS licenses are for one user connecting to one SOS Server.

You could also use aliases for your databases and use VSS Project Rights to prevent users from seeing the contents of the databases.
