Using Vault in a lod balanced or web garden environment?

I'd like to use Vault in a multi-server environment using either an external load balancer or Windows web garden. Is this possible? I've read old posts saying it isn't supported, but they're pretty old. If so, what are the requirements? (State Server, ...)

No news on this front. We haven't tested Vault in this type of environment, so we don't know if/how it would work. If any users have tried Vault in a web garden, perhaps they could let us know the results.
