Invalid username or password

Post by Dino » Mon Mar 28, 2005 4:01 pm

Ok, I've tried using the "Always connect using this profile" option. I have only one profile, I select it, but it never works.

Now, when opening VS, it gives me an "invalid username or password" error. I select the one single profile I have, and it logs in perfectly. I have to do this every time I open a project, and I have to select the profile every time I open Vault.

Any ideas?

I'm a little confused - does this happen when switching back and forth between the IDE and the Vault client? Does the MSSCCPRJ.SCC file contain the correct profile when logging in via the IDE? (see http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=2474 for how to check that file).

If I open VS.Net, it gives the error. I just select the profile again, and it logs in just fine.

If I open Vault, it asks me to log on or select a profile. I select the only profile, tick log in automatically and it logs in. Next time I open it, same again - it will not log in automatically.

I wonder if there is something wrong in the profile. Can you delete it and recreate it and see if that works?

Ok - I deleted the profile. CLosed Vault, and re-opened it and it logged straight in.

I closed VS.Net, reopened it and it still asked me for a profile (no error this time though).

Tried vault again, and it's back to asking me for a profile again. WOuld seem that each time VS.Net fails to log in, Vault resets that flag.

This makes some sense, in that if you do fail to login with the IDE using a profile, the GUI client will not automatically connect until you succeed using a profile.

However, choosing a profile in the IDE should cause it to automatically login again the next time it comes up.

Which version of Vault and Visual Studio are you using? Also, please read or re-read the article at http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=2474. If the IDE is not automatically logging in, it should be fixable by editing the MSSCCPRJ.SCC file.

Vault 3.0.5, and VS.Net 2003 with Framework 1.1 SP1.

I've checked that article, and my files are indeed correct.

Has this ever worked, or did it start failing recently?

Try this: Create a second profile with the same info but a different name, and check which profile is written to the MSSCCPRJ.SCC files (note: there is one of these files per solution and project folder in your solution, so be sure to check all of them).
