Import Completed....

<img src="http://www.arcturus.com.au/vault_errors.jpg" />

Which is correct, the part that says 60045 errors, or the one that saus no errors?

I have a 100+mb log file. Do I really need to go through that to find possible errors?

examiningthe log file has revealed a lot of pretty critical errors.... Looks like the server started throwing 500 errors after runing for about 2 hours. Gumble grumble.

Looks like its back to square one!

That does seem rather contradictory. What were error messages?

See the import tips at this link:

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=7

You might try importing the database in smaller chunks to see if that works better.

Between every single error vault is logging out and then logging back in to the database.

Every single file fails.

I've found the problem. Wow what a frigging pain.

Once again it is due to the Vault installer not setting up the right permissions on the Windows\TEMP folder (It bit me before when I couldn't even get vault to work at all because it couldn't write to the TEMP\sgvault folder)

Changed permissions on that, and files are now uploading.

What OS is the Vault server installed on? This is the second issue I've seen on the forum. I'd like to determine if there was some commonality between the two issues.

Also, do you recall what permissions existed in the %windir%\temp and %windir%\temp\sgvault before the installation?

Hi Jeff,

From the top of my head (and I could be very wrong)

Administrators, Full Control
Creator Owner, None
All Users, Read

Vault: 3.0.5
O/S: Windows 2000 w/ Service Pack 4

also, %windir%\temp\sgvault never existed. I can only assume that that is because the TEMP folder had incorrect permissions so vault couldn't actually create the folder.

What could cause this problem?

Server unavailable for transaction end
An exception was encountered during the transaction. Exception: Exception of type System.Exception was thrown. at VaultClientOperationsLib.ClientInstance.Commit(ChangeSetItemColl givenItems, Boolean keepCheckedOut, Boolean removeLocalCopy, Boolean bIsImport, DateTime dateImport, Int32 nUserIDImport, Int64& nRevID)
Transaction failed

Got that twice at the end of the import.

Should I rerun the import with Debug logging turned on?

Is there anything in the server's log which may indicate some type of problem related to these errors?

What account did you use to grant access?

I was re-reading your security rights, and I'm confused about something else.

According to the Microsoft specifications, installing the .Net framework will grant the ASP.Net account Read/Write/Delete to the %WINDIR%\Temp. However your setup does not have that configuration. Any idea what would have caused that?

Nothing in the log file. I'm going to re-run the import with Debug logging turned on.

Quick Hack: I just gave Everyone full control to the temp folder. It's only for testing purposes so I'm not worried about security issues.
