Source Safe Import Tool - Change the Temp File Location

Post by Tom » Tue Mar 15, 2005 1:05 pm

Is there a config setting that I can change the locaiton of where the temp files are being created?
Right now, they are all going to c:\Document and Settings\User\Temp.
Since I don't have enough room on C I want to move the location to a secondary location that has lots of disk space.

Thanks

Tom

I bet it's just using the location specified by the TEMP environment variable, so if you change that it should use the new location you specify.

Jeremy would know for sure.

Jeremy's pretty sure that Mike is right about the TEMP variable.

Jeremy:

After a more thorough investigation, I found its not the location of the temp files that I can change in Valut Admin but rather the location of the VSSLABELS folder? I'm not sure who is controlling this or if I can change it but the default is c:\Doc~Settings\LoggedInUser\Local Settings\Temp\VSSLABELS.

Is there a way to control this location within Vault or VSS? See my c Drive is used for the OS on;y and its not big enough to hold all of the LABELS. I though changing the Working Directory and Logging directory inside Vault Admin toke care of this. Obviously not.

Thanks

Tom,

Like Mike was pointing out above, the labels are downloaded to the location specified by the TEMP environment variable. If you set that environment variable, you should be able to send VSS labels to a different directory.
