Can't activate license after uninstall

Post by gkustas » Thu Mar 03, 2005 7:49 am

I think I goofed. I am moving my vault server from one machine to another. I deactivated the license on the "old" machine, installed vault on the new machine, and then added and successfully activated the licesnse on the new machine.

HOWEVER... I realized that I made a couple of mistakes during the install on the new machine, so I uninstalled and re-installed. I was able to add the license, but when I tried to activate it, I got the message: "this license is already activated on another machine...".

How can I get this deactivated?

Email your license to Linda at Sourcegear.com. We'll deactivate it for you here.

Backup / Restore Question

Post by thumper » Wed Aug 17, 2005 4:52 pm

I am planning on formatting and reinstalling the server that serves my companies Vault database. I assume that I need to deactivate my licenses before I format and reactivate after I install the Vault server again. Would that be correct? What other considerations might I need to make before starting this process?

Thanks in advance...

That is correct, assuming you are still on 2.0 (deactivate, re-install, then activate again). Starting with 3.0, we don't have activation anymore, so you wouldn't have to do anything special.

Mostly, you need to backup your database prior to wiping and re-installing everything.
