Switching between VSS and SoS quickly and painlessly?
I go through phases where I work from the office for a couple weeks then I work remotely for a couple weeks. Our source control project is rather large, so in the office SoS takes about ten times longer to load than VSS, and vice versa remotely. Rather than uninstall and reinstall each one, I need a quick and easy way to switch the IDE integration (with J++ and Vistual Studio.Net specifically). Is this simply a matter of setting a registry key? If so, which one and which values? Thanks!
In the SOS GUI client under Tools->Options-> General, there is an option to "Make SOS your default SCC provider." Check that when you want to use SOS for source code control. Uncheck it and VSS will be your SCC provider.
To keep the binding straight when you switch, be sure to open your solution from source code control. This would be in Visual Stuido or VS.NET under File->Source Code Control->Open From Source Code Control.
