Lost customized toolbar in VS.NET after Vault install

Post by alovhaug » Tue Feb 08, 2005 3:06 pm

This is a minor gripe, but every time I install a new version of Vault, it wipes out the custom toolbar I have in VS.NET 2003. Well, okay, I don't really know that Vault is wiping it out. What I can tell you is that three times in a row, I had created a new toolbar in VS.NET and added buttons for some macros I use frequently, and then at some point later I installed or upgraded the Vault client, and when I loaded VS.NET after that the new toolbar was gone and I had to recreate it.

If you didn't already know about this, you might want to add it to the list to investigate. Thanks!

I don't remember which one now, but one of the other products I use that integrates with VS reports that this is a problem with Visual Studio, that installing a VSIP integrated product resets all the toolbars to the installation defaults.

Sure, just the kind of problem that I can blame on a third party vendor, instead of the real culprit.

If true, I hope this is fixed in the next version of Visual Studio!

That would be great. However, I think that other vendor changed something in their install recently so you could upgrade an existing install to a newer version without tripping this bug.

(BTW, I don't work for SourceGear.)
