Feature request: Minimize to tray icon

Post by lzandman » Wed Feb 02, 2005 1:34 am

Hi,

I have a feature request. I prefer using the Vault client instead of using IDE integration. I keep the client running all day, but most of the time it just sits minimized on the taskbar. I would be very happy if SourceGear would include an option to minimize the client to the system tray, so it won't display a button on the taskbar.

I have got it working using the freeware utility Trayconizer (http://www.whitsoftdev.com/trayconizer/).

Yeah, I know those programs, but I'd rather have it integrated into Vault itself.

I spoke too soon, suddenly I get a GDI window appearing in my taskbar.

Hmmm... I wish I had thought of this myself! I have Vault open pretty much 24/7 but most ot the time it's not in use and does eat up real estate on the taskbar.

I've added it to our feature request list, and will be personally stumping for it when the time comes for feature decisions in future versions.

better than tray icon

OK here's the best feaure request you've heard all day :-)

I should be able to open the vault client, right click a node in the tree and choose "Monitor as tray icon". When someone else in the team checks somethign new in, this icon in the tray could change color to indicate that theres new code. These should obviously stack so you can monitor several parts of the tree (but not the entire tree if you dont want). Also, it should persist across reboots. A right click of this tray icon should offer, among other things "get latest version"

Sounds nice, but I'd turn it off. I work alone and wouldn't want the network traffic.

It's been added. I won't comment as to whether it was the best of the day!
