white spaces in user name

Post by ido » Tue Jan 25, 2005 6:49 am

i'm giving vault/dragnet a try... i've installed the servers on a machine, and went on to define a user. I noticed that the user name could not contain spaces, only alphanumeric characters. this is fine, except for one thing : when i tried sourcegear demo server, i logged in with my full name with a space between the parts (check "ido test" history on vaultdemo).
is this kind of a "hidden api" for sourcegear ??? ;-) or am i doing something wrong over here ?
Thanks

The AddDemoUser web page to add users to the vaultdemo server uses the Vault API, which bypasses the checks which are placed in the GUI Admin tool.

i'm puzzled : if there's a simple way to do it, why does the client has such restriction ??? anyway, your answer reminds me of the joke about "the guy in a hot air balloon" : what you told me is probably very current but does not get me any closer to my goal. how can I add a user with a space in his name, with out digging into the API and rewriting the admin tool ?

Email me using the button below this post, and I'll send you a debug admin tool that can add a user with a space.
