ISA Server 2004 with SourceOffsite 4.1

Post by chmcwill » Mon Jan 17, 2005 2:43 pm

We are busy migrating from Windows 2000 Server, ISA Server 2000 and SourceOffsite 3.5 which we have been running for a couple three years to Windows 2003 Server, ISA Server 2004 and SourceOffsite 4.1.

After reviewing all the information with respect to what we had setup with ISA Server 2000, the information in the Knowledge Base and online, we are still unable to connect to the SourceOffsite through the ISA Server. When we telnet to the SourceOffsite server either through the ISA Server or from the ISA Server, we simply get a Connect Failed.

From what we can see, we need to open TCP Port 8080 Unsecure and 8081 (used 8890 for Version 3.5.3 or earlier) for secure connection inbound and outbound with respect to the firewall. We have been able to connect locally and from another machine within the internal network but unable to connect through the firewall.

Are you aware of any issues with respect to ISA Server 2004? Are there any specific IP Preferences or System Policies which need to be altered?

We have upgraded to Version 4.1 with respect to the fact that SourceOffsite 3.5.3 is not fully supported on Windows 2003 Server and will need to get this running. We trust that you would be able to provide us with information on how to get the SourceOffsite functioning properly.

We're not able to provide support for specific proxies or firewalls as there are so many out there. Our documentation for ISA Server was provided by a user.

But the basic principle is that the port(s) you use for the SourceOffSite server need to be open between client and server and server and client. If you can't use telnet to reach the port SOS is using, the SOS client won't be able to connect either. By the way, you can use any ports for SOS, as long as they're not being used by another application on the same machine.

So if you determine what is blocking telnet, you may be able resolve the problem.

Perhaps other users have successfully used SOS with Microsoft ISA Server 2004 and can provide some tips.
