Server CPU time

Post by Finn Rasmussen » Fri Jan 14, 2005 2:04 am

We recentcly upgraded a server and we also upgraded the SOS server software from 3.5.3 to 4.1. My problem is that the new SOS server is using so much CPU time and many I/O Reads.

The server is not dedicated to SOS. Actually it is a SBS server with Exchange, Web Server and SQL server. But SOS is using more than double CPU time as all these processes! See attached screen dump from the server.

I have tried to compare the old 3.5.3 server with the new 4.1 server, and a simple refresh (F5) on a sample folder is using about 2 MB I/O read bytes on SOS 4.1 compared to about 1 MB on SOS 3.5.3. The folder contains only 23 files, and I think that even 1 MB is very much.

There is no anti-virus software installed yet.

Could you send me a copy of the log.txt file in the SOS Server directory? Let me know what times in the log correspond to the times SOS is using a lot of CPU. Be sure to reference this post in your email. Send the log to linda at SourceGear.com
