Keep Vault in sync after renaming project in VS2003

Client + Server 2.06: We are working on project ABC. Developer X has renamed the project to XYZ within VS2003.

After that, other team members, including Developer X, experienced Check out issues (file marked checked out while VS2003 says it is checked in, or a check in from within VS doesn't update the file correctly)

In Vault client, there are 2 projects ABC and XYZ. It seems like VS is bound to some files in ABC and some others in XZY.

Question: what do you recommend as procedure to rename a project? (in order to keep VS, Vault, local files and folders in sync).

Unfortunately, Visual Studio does not propagate rename of files to the source control repository. See http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=297 for more info.
