solution file under source control?

Post by zumafan » Thu Dec 23, 2004 12:52 pm

Hi,

We just installed sourcegear a couple days ago for 6 developers with Visual Studio 2003. Everything seems to be going fine, but I was wondering why the solution (*.sln) file is placed under source control? I thought every sln file was local to every machine?

We don't really want the sln file to be under source control because each machine has specific build rules and settings. Are we doing something wrong?

Other than that, everything seems to be going great.

In my experience, VS.Net will add the solution when adding a project using "Add To Source Code Control".

I don't believe it is a requirement for actual integration usage, but VS.Net is picky about how things are configured, so I normally let VS.Net have its way when it comes to what should/should not be under SCC control.
