Suggestion for more "label" reports.

Post by Dave Schulte » Tue Dec 14, 2004 11:02 pm

It would be useful if Vault supported viewing all files associated with a given label in a single list, without the tree dialog, similar to the presentation one might see in WinZip. The tree dialog is very useful in seeing the structure associated with a label. It would be nice, however, to see the list in a simple table format, where all files and subfolders are reported recursively in a single spreadsheet, such that one could sort by date/time and see the modification time of the latest file included within the given label. As with the current view label support, this should work for root folders, as well as subfolders that inherit a given label (i.e., one should be able to click on any folder and perform this new type of view).

Another useful report might be to be able to click on a folder to view the labels that apply to that folder and then select several labels for the new report listed above. It would be useful to be able to sort on date/time, for example, by label in the resulting report, and independent of the selected labels. Each row would need to include the label in addition to all the other normal details about each folder and file.

Just some suggestions.

Yes, a flat listing of files in a label is a good idea - I'll add that as a feature request.

I'm not quite sure I understand the second request - is the the ability to have label as one of the columns in that list, so you can sort files by date over multiple labels?

Yes, the second part of our request is to be able to sort across labels (list all files in several or all labels applied to a given folder in single listing and sort by columns such as date/time).
Thanks again!
