Small bug in History Explorer

Post by joshyeager » Tue Nov 16, 2004 3:55 pm

I checked a file in with a comment that contained a comma. When I view the file's history, the comment is displayed as just a single comma. However, if I view that version's details, the whole comment is displayed.

The server is running 2.0.5, and my client is 2.0.6.

Not a big deal, just thought I'd report it.

Josh:

When you view the details, can you find your file below ( the one from which you invoked history ). The grid as a column for comment. Does that comment have a plain, single comma?

When Vault displays history, it first checks to see if there is an ITEM comment. If the item comment exists, this is displayed on the History's comment.

If the item comment is not found, the entire CHANGE SET comment is then displayed.

Since your item comment contains a value, a comma, this is what is displayed in the History Explorer.

Oh, ok. I have no idea how that happened...

Just ignore me, then. (-:

In Vault 3.0, you will have the ability to edit the item comment and change set comment of any transaction that you've done. This means that you'll be able to make the "comma comment" more useful.
