Upgrade Process Recommendations

Post by skuhn » Thu May 12, 2016 6:05 am

Hello,
In our environment we have two instances of Vault Pro Server that we would like to consolidate and upgrade. One of our instances is at 7.2.1 and the other is at 7.0.0. We'd like to upgrade to 9.1. So, a few questions....
  1. Is it possible to upgrade directly from 7.2.1 to 9.1? If not then what steps would be needed?
  2. What would be the best way to consolidate the two instances?
    1. Export the 7.0.0 repositories and import into the 7.2.1 repository..is this possible?
      -OR-
    2. Upgrade the 7.0.0 instance to 7.2.1 first and then export from them to the 7.2.1 repository?
Thanks in advance,

1) Yes, you can upgrade from Vault 7.2.1. to Vault 9.1.0 directly. Check our Upgrading Guide for all the information you nee.

2) Vault Folder Export Import tool. It installs automatically with the client. Since there have been some bug fixes, you should upgrade both instances to Vault 9.1.0, then perform the export import. You won't need licenses for both servers, because you will be only using the admin account on the export side.
